Abstract: This roundtable will explore the progress of the 3-year randomised controlled trial Homeside (Baker et al., 2019) in the UK with a focus on participant experiences in the study. Homeside is an international study exploring the impact of at-home reading and music interventions for people living with dementia and their informal caregivers. Participants in the study are allocated to a reading, music or standard care programme over a period of 6 months. The trial aims to investigate whether the music and reading programmes, which include online training sessions with a therapist, can reduce behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia and improve areas of wellbeing for both the person living with dementia and their caregivers. This presentation will provide an overview of study elements including what is involved in taking part in the study and the experiences of participants so far. Roundtable speakers will include participants from the music, reading and standard care programmes, along with members of the research team delivering the interventions, collecting data and running the trial.
