Online webinar explores music and reading interventions
On July 28, 2021 the University of Melbourne hosted an online webinar for health professionals, consumers, caregivers and people living with dementia to find out more about the international HOMESIDE study. Professor Nicola Lautenschlager, deputy head of the University’s School of Medicine and old-age psychiatrist, chaired the expert panel comprising study participants, chief investigator of the trial Professor Felicity Baker, and therapists responsible for training participants in the use of music and reading activities.
The interactive event offered insight into the aims and design of the HOMESIDE study, the neurobiological effects of music and reading activities for people living with dementia and descriptions of participant experiences, embedded around a bit of Neil Diamond to keep the atmosphere alive!
